The word “satsebeli” is literally translated as “make” or simply “sauce”, because originally Satsebeli was called any sauce based on fruit and berries.

Later, a classic recipe emerged, which included garlic, red pepper, suneli hops and, of course, tomatoes.

What does Satsebeli sauce taste like

Its main task is not to overpower the main taste of the dish, but only to complement it with bright sweet and sour notes.

Most often, Satsebeli has a bright pronounced tomato taste, sometimes it is tart-sweet due to the addition of plums or apples.
