Olkom Group Integrated Water Resources Management Strategy

Olkom Group’s sustainable development concept is based on global ethical and environmental principles: responsibility for people, society and the environment. In our operational and production activities, we strive not only to produce healthy and tasty products, but also to be responsible users of natural resources. Therefore, when carrying out our activities and making investment decisions, we pay great attention to environmental issues.
Although we cannot completely eliminate environmental impacts, we do our best to minimize them. Along with improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, utilization and recycling, our company successfully implements projects to improve the efficiency of water resources use and wastewater treatment. In 2019, we reduced our total direct water consumption per tonne of finished products by 10% compared to 2017.
In our production activities we aim to reduce the amount of liquid industrial waste and to maximize its use for recycling. We use two revolving water supply systems with a volume of 100 m3 and 180 m3 for the passage of technological processes, which allows us to reduce the water consumption to 6,000 m3 per month.
This method of water supply makes it possible to reuse the same water in the production cycle: after several purification steps, used and polluted water is again suitable for industrial use. So, in 2019, we reused 11,000 m3. of steam condensate.
Also, the use of recycling water supply systems can significantly reduce the volume of effluent discharge into the environment. In 2019, our Company reduced the total volume of water discharged by 15% compared to 2017, and also significantly improved the quality of wastewater through the use of biocides.
Through an integrated water resource management strategy, effective environmental projects and new technologies, we plan to minimize the environmental impact of our activities by 2030. This requires significant time and financial resources, but we know it can be done!
